But yes, I did in the end, thanks. The lead the Apple store sold me to connect my old to my new computer didn't work on my new computer. Despite my buying them both at the same time. So I needed to buy an even more expensive adaptor. Then... and this may be a handy hint for anyone trying to use a Thunderbolt cable... all modern Macs use a wireless keyboard by default. But, despite the cables being their own product, they only work with an old-fashioned keyboard with a physical lead!
And sorry for the slow reply. Google seems to have stopped emailing me comment notifications. Only knew when someone else let me know.
